MYP Mathematics curriculum is gaining acceptance across Dubai schools rapidly. The MYP Math course takes students through a comprehensive and in-depth Math assessment based on four learning criteria namely:

The lessons are structured in a way so as to cover Criteria A initially and move on to Criteria D. The students learn Criteria B in parallel as they complete the course. Criterion C gets covered as the students learn new topics and get familiar with the mathematical notations and language of mathematics. A gradual development of effective mathematical communication is achieved.

Mr. Vikram has designed the MYP Math program at Gore’s Dubai. The students get to work on our MYP criteria-specific worksheets developed in house. MYP Math is offered at two levels in Dubai: Standard and Extended. The students take core math courses together and then branch out for the extended topics at our tutoring center.

Investigating patterns is one of the most important bedrocks of algebraic thinking.  Traditionally, students are asked to follow a set pattern based on pre-developed algorithms. They merely follow what has been already developed. However, at Gore’s MYP classes, students learn how to create new algorithms and this enhances their critical thinking abilities.

A variety of techniques are taught including sequences, short tricks to get nth term formulae, compound patterns based on past exam papers etc

The MYP Math lessons at Gore’s incorporate teaching technology (use of graphic calculators and software) as well as familiarize students with mathematical notations, symbols as well as teach them appropriate use of tables, charts, graphs, 3D models. As a part of Criterion D, we have developed large number of questions on applying mathematical knowledge in real life situations. Worksheets that focus specifically on Criterion D have been developed. Students practice questions from these worksheets regularly. Homework / assignments are also given to students through our dedicated homework portal.
